UPDATE: Wimal Weerawansa Appears in Court After Arrest Order

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa appeared before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court after an arrest order had been issued due to his failure to appear in connection with an ongoing case.

The case relates to allegations that Weerawansa caused a public disturbance by participating in a protest that obstructed traffic on the road opposite the United Nations compound in Colombo.

Earlier on Monday (21), the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court ordered his arrest and directed that he be produced before the court after he failed to appear when the case was called.

However, Weerawansa subsequently reported to court and appeared before the Magistrate in relation to the matter.
