Supreme Court Ruling on 22nd Amendment Received by Speaker

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Speaker of Parliament has received the Supreme Court's determination on the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.
Accordingly, the Speaker is expected to present the determination to Parliament tomorrow.
The Department of Communications of the Parliament of Sri Lanka stated that time has been allocated on the 24th of September 2026, from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM, for the Second Reading debate on the 22nd Constitution Amendment Bill and the Judicature (Amendment) Bill.
The Second Reading debate on both Bills is scheduled to continue for a second day on Friday, the 25th, from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
Meanwhile, a Party Leaders’ Meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. today to discuss this week’s parliamentary proceedings.
The meeting will be chaired by the Speaker of Parliament.
