COLOMBO (News 1st): Wearing seat belts is now mandatory for all passengers travelling in vehicles on Sri Lanka’s expressways.
Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Bimal Rathnayake said the grace period given to vehicles that were manufactured without seat belts to have them installed ended yesterday.
He said the regulation will now be strictly enforced, with legal action to be taken against both drivers and passengers who fail to comply.
