COLOMBO (News1st); A man alleged to have acted as the money collector for large-scale drug trafficker Salidu Malshitha Gunaratne, widely known as “Panadura Kudu Salidu,” and his wife have been arrested during a police operation in the Mount Lavinia area.
Police said the arrests were made during a raid carried out on Thursday night following information received by the Mount Lavinia Police.
According to investigators, the suspects were taken into custody after police stopped and searched a three-wheeler during the operation.
Police recovered Rs. 6.3 million in cash from the couple, along with 15 milligrams of heroin. Officers also seized a cash-counting machine, an electronic weighing scale, and a scooter-type motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects.
Police further stated that the suspects had been residing temporarily in the Piliyandala area at the time of their arrest.
