100 Assistant Train Drivers Recruited Into Railway Service

COLOMBO (News1st);An additional 100 assistant train drivers have been recruited into the railway service.

The Ministry of Transport stated that 100 assistant train drivers were awarded appointment letters yesterday, aligning with a national program launched to develop the human and physical resources of the Railway Department to deliver a quality service to the public.

To maintain the operations of the Railway Department systematically and continuously, nearly 1,500 personnel have been recruited for various positions within this year alone, the Ministry added.

The Ministry further noted that the Railway Department plans to conduct competitive exam based recruitments for 2027 to fill vacancies, including Station Masters, Train Guards, and Technical Officers.
