Old Bogambara Prison To Receive Inmates Next Week

COLOMBO (News 1st):The Department of Prisons says that, discussions are underway on the re-employment of retired prison officers.

Commissioner General of Prisons Prasad Hemantha said that the measure is being considered to address the current shortage of prison officers.

Meanwhile, the Department of Prisons says, that the transfer of inmates to the old Bogambara Prison will commence next week.

The Commissioner General said that around 90 percent of the renovation work at the facility has been completed.

Adding that the process of assigning officers to the facility is currently underway.
