Police Move to Confiscate Illegal Assets Worth Rs. 1.1 Billion

COLOMBO (News1st);Police have taken steps to confiscate illegal assets worth 1,104 million rupees.

The police stated that this includes property and housing valued at 978.9 million rupees.

Additionally, vehicles worth 109 million rupees and cash amounting to 14 million rupees, earned through illegal assets, have been frozen.

Meanwhile, 43 criminals with Interpol Red Notices issued against them have been brought back to the island from 2023 to date.

During the same period, 38 criminals without Red Notices have also been brought back to the island.

Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler, stated that 95 individuals with Red Notices issued against them are currently hiding abroad.

He mentioned that details regarding many criminals are currently being received via the 1818 hotline.

The number of complaints received through this hotline so far stands at 7,071.

Furthermore, the Police Media Spokesperson stated that 9,105 children have been arrested for drug-related offenses from October 30 of last year to date.
