Mahaweli Authority Offers Support to Restore Small Tanks

COLOMBO (News1st);The Mahaweli Authority has informed farmers' organizations to submit requests for the restoration of small tanks in the Mahaweli zones, where water levels have dropped due to dry weather.

Its Director General, H.M.J.K. Herath, stated that the authority is currently providing maximum assistance to carry out the removal of silt and aquatic plants from these tanks.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Mahaweli Authority further mentioned that the renovation work related to increasing the water capacity of the Bowatenna Reservoir has reached its final stage.

The project to remove silt and increase the water capacity of the Bowatenna Reservoir, a major Mahaweli reservoir, was initiated last month.
