COLOMBO (News1st);The Bill to abolish the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) position is scheduled to be presented to Parliament today.
The relevant vote is expected to take place at 5:00 PM today.
This post was originally established to coordinate and manage joint operations among the tri-forces.
The decision to abolish the position has been taken due to defence expenditure management and the position no longer being required.
Accordingly, Parliament is scheduled to convene today at 9:30 AM.
