SriLankan Airlines Flight from Jakarta Cancelled

COLOMBO (News 1st); A SriLankan Airlines flight scheduled to operate from Jakarta, Indonesia, to Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake has been cancelled following the eruption of Indonesia's Anak Krakatau volcano, which has significantly disrupted air travel in the region.

The flight had been scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka at 5:30 p.m. local time today.

The eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau has resulted in the cancellation of numerous flights operating to and from Jakarta, creating widespread travel disruptions across the country.

Indonesia's main international gateway, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, along with seven other airports, remains closed due to safety concerns linked to volcanic activity and its impact on air navigation.

According to Indonesia's Transport Ministry, approximately 170,000 passengers have been affected by flight cancellations resulting from the eruption.
