Unauthorized Construction Removal Along Colombo Coast To Begin This Month

COLOMBO (News 1st): According to Minister of Environment Dr. Dhammika Patabendi, the removal of unauthorized constructions along the Colombo District coastal belt will commence this month.

He said the operation will cover the stretch from Galle Face to the Bolgoda River, which has been divided into five zones.

Legal advice on the removal process has already been obtained from the Attorney General.

The Minister added that plans are underway to remove all illegal structures along the coastline and redevelop the area as an attractive tourist destination..
