Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake Appears Before Bribery Commission

COLOMBO(News 1st): Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake arrived at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption a short while ago.

This was in response to a summons issued to him by the Bribery Commission.

Although he was informed to appear before the Bribery Commission on four previous occasions, he failed to present himself.

Ravi Karunanayake was summoned in connection with an ongoing investigation regarding the recruitment of five officers to the National Lotteries Board on a contract basis outside the approved procedure and attaching them to his personal staff.

Bribery Commission officers also conducted a search at Ravi Karunanayake’s residence located on Rajamalwatta Road in Battaramulla the day before yesterday.

However, he was not at his residence at the time.
