Special Police Operation Launched to Recover Firearms Belonging to Extradited Criminal 'Bus Lalith'

COLOMBO (News1st); A special operation has been launched to recover firearms belonging to Lalith Kannangara, alias "Bus Lalith," an organized criminal who was arrested in Dubai and brought back to the country.

Police stated that the operation is being carried out based on information revealed during questioning of the suspect under a 72-hour detention order.

According to his confessions, the suspect "Bus Lalith" has extorted protection money even from small business owners in areas including Hanwella.

It has also been revealed that "Bus Lalith," who was engaged in drug trafficking, had defrauded certain drug traffickers of hundreds of millions of rupees.

"Bus Lalith" was brought back to the country from Dubai early yesterday morning.

Further investigations regarding the suspect are being conducted under the direction of the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau.
