Over Rs. 73 Million Worth Of Cannabis Seized In Hambegamuwa

COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect has been arrested along with cannabis near the bank of the Mau Ara canal in Hambegamuwa, Monaragala.

Police said 1,044 kilograms and 180 grams of cannabis, which had been prepared for transportation, were seized during the raid.

The estimated value of the stock is Rs. 73,780,000.

The raid was carried out by the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force.

Meanwhile, another suspect has been arrested for operating a cannabis plantation in the same area.

The one-and-a-half-acre plantation contained 54,096 cannabis plants, all of which were taken into police custody.
