COLOMBO (News 1st): National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, alleges that the government is attempting to take revenge against him.
He made this statement while attending a party meeting held in Diyabeduma, Polonnaruwa today.
Rajapaksa noted that while there was a concerted effort to remand the party's General Secretary over claims of intimidating the IGP, the court ultimately granted bail.
He pointed out that whether the IGP was genuinely intimidated remains questionable and is something that should be asked directly of the IGP, as the claim originated from the police themselves.
Rajapaksa sharply criticized the authorities for prioritizing attempts to have opposition party members remanded rather than investigating the underlying grievances, asking why no inquiries are made into why the President's feelings were hurt or why such statements were made in the first place.
