Migrant Worker Remittances Surpass US$ 5 Billion From January To July

COLOMBO (News 1st): The total amount of remittances received from migrant workers has exceeded US$ 5,000 million.

This covers the period from January to July of this year.

During the corresponding period last year, the amount of remittances received by the country stood at US$ 4,435.2 million.

Attending a meeting with professionals in Passara, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe stated that remittances are expected to reach US$ 10 billion this year.
