Judicature (Amendment) Bill Gazetted | High Court Bench to Grow

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Judicature (Amendment) Bill has been Gazetted. The proposed amendments to the Judicature Act seek to increase the number of High Court judges from 110 to 120.

The Bill also includes provisions to extend the retirement age of judges in the lower courts by two years.

Accordingly, the retirement age of High Court judges will be increased to 63 years, while the retirement age of District Court and Magistrate's Court judges will be increased to 62 years.
