Vikram Misri Meets President AKD | USD 350 Mn Indian Credit Facility to Support Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); Indian Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri held high-level discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo.

The meeting reaffirmed the close and growing partnership between India and Sri Lanka while reviewing a range of bilateral initiatives and development projects.

The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest and the progress of key development programmes being implemented in Sri Lanka with Indian assistance.

Discussions also covered ongoing cooperation between the two countries in areas of economic development, infrastructure and reconstruction.

A significant outcome of the engagement was the exchange of agreements relating to Indian Rupee-denominated Lines of Credit worth the equivalent of USD 350 million. The funding forms part of the broader USD 450 million reconstruction assistance package extended by India in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah.

The newly exchanged agreements are expected to support reconstruction efforts, infrastructure development projects and urgent procurement requirements that emerged following the devastating impact of the cyclone.
