Cop Remanded Over Alleged Underworld Execution

COLOMBO (News 1st); A police officer arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose body was discovered submerged in the Gin Ganga has been remanded until August 17.

The order was issued today after the suspect was produced before Baddegama Magistrate Sanath Nanayakkara.

The remand order comes as investigations continue into the killing of Almeida, whose body was recovered from the river after he had allegedly been murdered and disposed of in the water.

Investigators suspect that the victim was a key gunman linked to organized crime figure “Loku Patti.”
