COLOMBO(News1st);
A nationwide mosquito control programme is being carried out across all government institutions today.
The initiative is being implemented in conjunction with the National Integrity Week, with all government institutions instructed to participate, according to Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe.
As part of the programme, government offices are dedicating several hours this morning to cleaning their premises and eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites.
The campaign comes amid growing concerns over the country's dengue situation. According to the National Dengue Control Unit, 84,091 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.
The Unit also said that 61 dengue-related deaths have been recorded to date.
