Nine Arrested After Clash During Forest Clearance Raid

COLOMBO (News 1st); Nine suspects have been arrested for obstructing the duties of wildlife and Police Special Task Force (STF) officers in Mukkanpan, Akkarayankulam in Kilinochchi

Police said that the officers had conducted the raid following information that a reserve forest in the area was being cleared.

Police also mentioned that STF officers fired shots into the air to control the situation.

According to the police, four STF officers who sustained injuries due to scuffles were admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital for treatment.

One of the arrested suspects was also hospitalized due to chest pain.

In addition to the suspects, a machine has also been taken into police custody.
