Kandy Esala Perahara To Begin On The 18th Of August

COLOMBO (News 1st): Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake says that the government will provide maximum support and necessary interventions to ensure the success of the Kandy Esala Perahera.

He made these remarks while attending a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat on the organization and progress of the 2026 historic Kandy Esala Perahera.

The Esala Perahara of the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy is scheduled to commence on the 18th of August.

The Kumbal Perahera will parade the streets from the 18th to the 22nd of August, while the Randoli Perahera will begin on the 23rd.

The final grand Randoli Perahera is scheduled to be held on the 27th of August.

Following the traditional water-cutting ceremony on the morning of the 28th, the 2026 Esala Perahara will conclude with the final street procession during the afternoon.
