CCIB Takes Over Rs. 20M Robbery Case Following Arrest of Ex-State Minister's Son

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police have handed over further investigations into the alleged robbery of Rs. 20 million belonging to a Chinese national in Colpetty, to the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Bureau.

Police stated that a son of former State Minister Shantha Bandara was also arrested by the Colpetty Police yesterday in connection with the incident.

The suspect is 21 years old.

The robbery took place on July 13, while the Chinese national was transporting the money in a vehicle.

Three other individuals have already been arrested and remanded in connection with the incident.

Police stated that the suspects also include the grandson of a prominent businessman.

Meanwhile, the arrested son of former State Minister Shantha Bandara is scheduled to be produced before court today.
