COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's headline inflation, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), increased to 6.5 percent in June 2026.
According to the latest data released by the Department of Census and Statistics, the NCPI stood at 222.3 index points in June 2026, based on the 2021=100 index base.
The June inflation rate represents an increase compared to the previous month (5.4%), indicating that consumer prices continued to rise during the period. The latest figure suggests that both food and non-food categories have contributed to maintaining inflationary pressure on household expenditure.
