Parliament To Debate Referring COPE Corruption Findings To Bribery Commission Today

COLOMBO (News 1st): Parliamentary approval is scheduled to be obtained today to forward information regarding institutions identified as being related to corruption and fraud during the investigations of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The related parliamentary debate is scheduled to be held today from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Nishantha Samaraweera, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), stated that information related to 8 institutions will be presented under the first phase.

Parliament is scheduled to convene at 9:30 AM today.

This will be held under the chairmanship of Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne.

The decision regarding forwarding the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) report on the scheme of issuing permits for the importation of fully electric vehicles for Sri Lankans employed abroad to the Attorney General will also be debated today.

A motion for the adjournment of the House regarding the proceedings and performance of the Committee on Public Petitions of the Tenth Parliament is also scheduled to be debated today.
