No Evidence Linking 8-year-old Student To Kurunegala School Car Fire

COLOMBO (News 1st): A car parked within a school in Kurunegala had caught fire.

According to information received by the police an eight-year-old was responsible for the incident.

However, issuing a statement, police clarified the facts regarding the incident.

A video showing a car engulfed in flames and a young child walking nearby has been circulating on social media.

The Kurunegala Police commenced investigations into the incident and have revealed that the child in question is a student of the same school.

However, police stated that no eyewitness accounts or forensic evidence have so far been uncovered to prove that the child set fire to the vehicle.

The Kurunegala Police have informed the court regarding the incident, and further investigations are underway.

Police also stated that expert evidence will be obtained from the Government Analyst’s Department to determine the cause of the fire.
