Over 5,000 Patients Await Kidney Stone Removal Surgeries

COLOMBO (News 1st) - According to Minister of Health Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa more than 5,000 patients are currently on the waiting list for kidney stone removal surgeries. 

The Minister made these remarks yesterday while attending the opening ceremony of the Kidney Stone Treatment Centre in Meerigama.

According to the Minister atleast 2000 kidney stone patients have been reported in the Kegalle Hospital, atleast 1500 in Kandy. He said the number of Kidney patients in the waiting list for kidney stone removal surgeries could even exceed 10,000. 

In view of treating these patients, it is aimed to utilize the Kidney Stone Treatment Centre in Meerigama apart from the operating theatres in Government Hospitals.
