COLOMBO (News 1st) - The number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka so far this year has risen to 66,064, with 46 dengue-related deaths.

The National Dengue Control Unit said dengue infections are now increasing more rapidly in public places such as schools and universities than in homes.

Special dengue eradication programmes are continuing across 23 high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions to curb the spread of the disease.

The highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Colombo, Gampaha, Matara, Kalutara, and Kandy districts.

The National Dengue Control Unit also warned that dengue continues to spread rapidly across 175 MOH divisions nationwide.
