Police Injured in Raid Gone Wrong, Suspects Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st); Four suspects have been arrested after allegedly assaulting police officers during a raid that turned violent in the Hambanagala area of Deraniyagala, police said.

According to authorities, the incident occurred when a team of officers from the Avissawella Police carried out a raid on a house following a complaint that drug trafficking activities were taking place at the location. 

However, during the raid, individuals present at the house reportedly behaved in a disorderly and aggressive manner, obstructing the officers in the discharge of their duties. 

The situation quickly escalated into a confrontation, and three police officers sustained injuries and were subsequently admitted to hospital for treatment.
