COLOMBO (News 1st): Over a dozen Chinese nationals who were arrested in Makola, Kiribathgoda, on suspicion of online financial fraud have been remanded until the 18th of this month.
This order was issued after they were produced before the Mahara Magistrate's Court Complex.
A total of 18 Chinese nationals were recently taken into custody on suspicion of conducting online financial scams.
According to the police, the suspects were apprehended during a raid conducted by officers of the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau on charges of online fraud, forging documents, and the possession of duty-free cigarettes.
Police have also taken into custody several forged letters from the US states of California and Colorado that were in the possession of the suspects, along with several rubber stamps used to create those fraudulent documents.
