First-Ever Triple Vessel Operation Underway At Port of Trincomalee

COLOMBO (News 1st) - For the first time in the history of country's maritime activities, simultaneous operations involving three vessels have commenced at the Ashroff Jetty terminal of the Port of Trincomalee.

Resident Manager of the Trincomalee Port, Sarath Kumara, said the operations are expected to generate revenue exceeding Rs. 300 million.

The vessel AAL BANGKOK, carrying five wind turbine towers for the Mannar Wind Power Project, is currently being handled at one of the Jetty berths.

Another vessel, HAI LONG 1. has arrived from Dubai for the handling of 17,000 tonnes of steel construction rods brought to the country for re-export purposes.

Meanwhile, the vessel UNIWELL is unloading 55,000 tonnes of coal, imported from Indonesia, for Sri Lanka Cement Corporation.
