EDB Announces Significant Increase In Export Earnings In April

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Export Development Board (EDB) announced that the country's export earnings recorded a significant increase in April.

Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Samantha Vidyaratne, said that tea exports have generated $451 million in revenue during the first four months of the year.

The export revenue generated in April stands at $1.38 Billion.

In the first four months of the year, the country has earned $5.784 Billion in US dollars.

Meanwhile, the "Tea Mangalya"—the traditional festival of offering the maiden harvest of tea plucked after the Sinhala and Tamil New Year to the Sacred Tooth Relic, was held today at the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.

The event took place with the participation of the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Samantha Vidyaratne, and the Sri Lanka Tea Commissioner, K.A.M.K. Jayawardena.
