Tilvin Silva Appears Before Presidential Commission on Coal Probe

COLOMBO (News 1st); Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva has appeared before the Special Presidential Commission appointed to investigate coal procurement transactions.

His appearance before the Commission followed a formal notice issued by the body.

The Commission stated that the summons was made after considering several complaints received from different parties in relation to a statement allegedly made by Silva.

According to the Commission, a statement was recorded from him regarding the remarks in question during his appearance.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Commission has commenced reviewing complaints received in connection with the coal transactions from today.

Authorities confirmed that a total of 28 complaints had been submitted to the Commission during the designated period for submissions.

The Commission concluded the acceptance of complaints on the 22nd of this month, marking the beginning of the next phase of inquiry into the matter.
