Sri Lanka Exports Surge Past $5.7 Billion in Early 2026

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s export sector has demonstrated notable resilience and growth in early 2026, with total export earnings surpassing $5.7 billion during the first four months of the year.

According to the latest data, total export income from January to April 2026 reached approximately $5.78 billion, marking a 4.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.  

In April alone, Sri Lanka recorded total export earnings of $1.38 billion, representing a 6 percent rise year-on-year.  Merchandise exports during the month rose by 9.87 percent to $1.06 billion, while services exports contributed an estimated $317 million.

Over the four-month period, merchandise export earnings climbed to $4.52 billion, reflecting a 4.8 percent increase, while services exports reached $1.26 billion, further strengthening the overall export performance.
