COLOMBO (News 1st); The Special Presidential Commission appointed to investigate coal procurement transactions in Sri Lanka has commenced reviewing complaints received in relation to the matter.
Secretary to the Commission, P. V. Bandulasena, confirmed that the acceptance of complaints concluded last Friday, with a total of 28 submissions received.
These complaints are now being examined as part of the Commission’s mandate to probe alleged irregularities surrounding coal-related dealings.
Bandulasena stated that the Commission will assess each complaint and proceed to record statements where necessary, depending on the nature and substance of the submissions.
The fully empowered Special Presidential Commission is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gihan Kulatunga. The panel also includes Court of Appeal Judge Adithya Patabendige and High Court Judge Sanjeewa Somaratne.
