COPE Reveals Alleged Land Fraud at the National Housing Development Authority

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has revealed details of land fraud that allegedly took place within the National Housing Development Authority. 

COPE Chairman, Member of Parliament Dr. Nishantha Samaraweera, stated that the irregularities include the operation of a Carlton preschool at a section of the Maligawatte housing complex for several years since 1999 at a rate below the officially assessed value.

Samaraweera further stated that the facts uncovered regarding the alleged fraud will be referred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
