Second Phase of the Pension Revision Programme to Be Implemented in July

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government says that the second phase of the pension revision programme will be implemented in July.

Minister Professor Chandana Abeyratne says that 98% of the payments under the first phase of the pension revision have already been completed.

A total of 463,000 individuals have been registered in the system of the Department of Pensions, and payments have been made to 429,000 pensioners.

The minister also noted that around 2,500 new Pension recipients are added to the system every month.

He further said that an online system is already being operated through Divisional Secretariat offices to speed up the pension payment process. Through this system, the data of approximately 397,154 Pension recipients has already been automated.
