COLOMBO (News 1st) - Officials from the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate coal transactions says that statements are scheduled to be recorded again today (14) from the Secretary to the Ministry of Energy and officials of the power generation company.
Statements have been obtained from officials representing seven parties connected to the investigations of alleged irregularities and unlawful acts related to the importation of coal and the generation of electricity using such coal.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently appointed a Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate alleged irregularities and unlawful acts related to the importation of coal and the generation of electricity using such coal that took place from 2009 up to the present and to provide recommendations.
Yesterday, officials from the Auditor General’s Department were summoned before the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry for Coal Transactions.
Officials from the Commission stated that these officials were called to clarify several matters, including issues related to audit reports.
