Audit Officials Summoned Over Coal Scams

COLOMBO (News 1st); Officials from the Auditor General's Department have been summoned to appear before the Presidential Commission investigating coal scams today.

The commission noted that these officials were called in to clarify several key issues, specifically regarding past audit reports.

Moving forward, the Commission stated that it is scheduled to record further statements tomorrow. 

Those set to testify include the Secretary to the Ministry of Energy and officials from the Electricity Generating Company.

So far, investigators have already recorded statements from officials across several institutions linked to these coal transactions.

This Special Presidential Commission was recently appointed by the President to investigate all coal transactions dating back to 2009.
