COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Immigration and Emigration says special checks will be carried out on individuals arriving in the country from nations linked to cybercrime activities.
Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, Pathiraja, stated that authorities will closely monitor individuals arriving from countries where foreign nationals had previously been arrested over cybercrimes.
Officials at Bandaranaike International Airport will conduct checks to confirm whether such individuals are entering the country for genuine tourism purposes.
The Controller General also stated that the police and immigration officers are carrying out separate inspections on tourists within the country as well.
He further noted that individuals arrested in connection with cybercrimes will be deported and legal action will be taken against them.
