COLOMBO (News 1st) - Deputy Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Namal Sudarshana, stated that the National Child Protection Authority Act is currently being reviewed for potential amendments.
The Deputy Minister stated that the objective of these reforms is to modernize the existing laws to better align with current societal trends and challenges.
The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) was originally established under the National Child Protection Authority Act, No. 50 of 1998.
In addition to child protection reforms, Deputy Minister Sudarshana noted that attention is also being focused on amending the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, No. 34 of 2005.
Sudarshana confirmed that the reviewing of this legislation has already commenced.
