Tourist Arrivals in Sri Lanka Tops 800,000 in 2026

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The number of tourists who visited Sri Lanka this year has exceeded 800,000. 

A total of 858,527 tourists visited the country during the first four months of this year, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

According to the authority, 117,893 tourists arrived during the last month alone. 

Tourist arrivals stood at 277,327 in January and 279,328 in February.

Officials highlighted that this represents a significant increase compared to the same period in years 2025 and 2018 respectively.

The Tourism Development Authority further said that the highest number of visitors came from India, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, and Germany.
