Residents Block Protest Attempt By Gota's Ex-Secretary

COLOMBO (News 1st); A group that included a former secretary to ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was driven away following an intense protest by local residents in Battaramulla on Tuesday.

The group had attempted to stage a protest in front of the residence of Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma.

However, residents of the area strongly objected to the move and did not allow the group to proceed with the protest.

Eyewitnesses said locals angrily confronted the group, blaming them heavily and demanding that they leave the area.

During the confrontation, fecal matter was reportedly thrown at the protesters, intensifying the chaotic scene.

Faced with strong resistance and mounting hostility from residents, the group eventually fled the location without proceeding with the planned protest.
