Putin Pledges Full Support for Iran’s Interests in Middle East Conflict

COLOMBO (News 1st); Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia is ready to do everything that serves Iran’s interests in the context of the conflict in the Middle East. He made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in St. Petersburg.

“For our part, we will do everything that serves your interests, the interests of all the peoples of the region, to ensure that this peace is achieved as quickly as possible,” President Putin said during the meeting, as quoted by local media.

Putin also stated that he had received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, in which best wishes were conveyed for the health and prosperity of the head of the Islamic Republic.

“We sincerely hope that, drawing on this courage and desire for independence, the Iranian people will, under the leadership of a new leader, navigate this difficult period of trials, and peace will come,” Putin added.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi thanked Russia for its support of Tehran and praised the state of relations between the two countries, noting that bilateral ties would continue to strengthen. He also stated that Iran would continue its confrontation with the United States.

“The entire world has been proven that the Iranian people, through their resistance and their courage, were able to resist American attacks, American aggression, and will be able to endure and survive this period of time,” Araghchi said.

Before the talks began, Araghchi said he intended to discuss with the Russian side the coordination of efforts aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East.

The meeting was also attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, and Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov.
