Grade 1 Books Distribution Begins Under New Education Reforms

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Education says distribution of activity books related to the second and third terms of Grade 1 for 2026, under the new education reforms, has already begun.

Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Nalaka Kaluwewa, said the books are scheduled to be distributed to all schools by the 30th of April. 

He added that awareness programmes on the Grade 1 curriculum and teacher training have already been provided to provincial primary directors, teacher advisors, trainers, and teachers. 

Provincial directors have also been instructed to complete any additional training by May 16.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary, if any schools have not completed the Grade 1 Term I subject sections, principals have been instructed to cover those areas during the upcoming second school term.
