COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Health has revealed that 83 percent of deaths in the country are caused by non-communicable diseases.
Dr. Shreeni Alahapperuma, Director of the Non-Communicable Diseases Unit, stated that one in every three individuals in the country suffers from heart-related ailments.
Health authorities further disclosed that 63.9 percent of those individuals do not seek medical treatment.
Additionally, the doctor noted that 15 percent of the population suffers from diabetes, with 49 percent of them not receiving any treatment.
Dr. Shreeni Alahapperuma provided these explanations regarding non-communicable diseases and emergency accidents.
