COLOMBO (News 1st): One of the generator units at the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant has been shut down.

A spokesperson for the plant stated that this step was taken due to a decrease in electricity demand. However, power generation continues through the second and third units.

As the largest contributor to Sri Lanka’s national grid, the Lakvijaya Power Plant consists of three primary generator units. Each unit generates 300 MW of electricity, providing a total capacity of 900 MW to the national system.
