Fatal Lorry Collision On Southern Expressway Claims Two Lives

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two people have died following a collision near the 54.9 km post on the Southern Expressway.

Police said the accident occurred when a lorry travelling towards Kottawa collided with another lorry carrying cement.

The driver and two passengers in the rear lorry were seriously injured and admitted to Nagoda Hospital, where two of them later died.

The victims have been identified as residents of Tissamaharama, aged 62 and 64.

The driver of the other lorry has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
