COLOMBO(News 1st); Patients continue to face difficulties due to the strike launched by the Government Medical Officers Association.
Our correspondents say outpatient departments and clinics at many hospitals have been closed.
The GMOA launched the strike, claiming the Ministry of Health violated an agreement on internship appointments and proceeded with placements.
This marks the fourth time in two weeks that government medical officers have boycotted work.
The strike, which began yesterday, will continue until 8 AM tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Mass Media has announced the postings of 436 post-internship medical officers.
Accordingly, those doctors are required to report to their assigned government hospitals or health institutions by tomorrow.
