Police Spokesperson and Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler said that a comprehensive security plan has already been implemented.
He stated that a total of 7,500 traffic police officers have been deployed islandwide to manage traffic flow and prevent congestion during the busy festive period.
Focusing on the Western Province, ASP Wootler said that an additional 2,500 police officers have been assigned specifically to enhance security and prevent any disturbances to public peace.
He noted that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of residents in the province during the festive season.
In addition to land-based operations, water safety has also been strengthened. ASP Wootler said that nearly 400 specially trained life-saving officers, including personnel from the Police Naval Division, have been deployed across the country. These officers, equipped with experience in rescue operations, are stationed at water sources, reservoirs, irrigation canals, and coastal areas, where large crowds are expected to gather.
